About the Director



Geoffrey Tindyebwa is the Founder and Director for KULE Foundation.

He is an experienced international educator and leads KULE Foundation International programs. He has had a distinguished teaching career in both Africa and Canada and has developed successful programs of international youth service focusing on Africa.

Ugandan-born, Geoffrey Tindyebwa lived in Kenya for nearly 20 years. In Nairobi, he was for many years the Dean of Students at St Mary’s and oversaw the expansion of that school’s very successful community service programs. During that time, he was also deeply involved with the International Baccalaureate (IB), the premier diploma for international education worldwide. He taught English Literature for the IB, served as IB Coordinator for his school, and represented the IBO in East and Central Africa.

He now teaches at the United World College in western Canada, popularly known as Lester B.Pearson College of the Pacific.  There, he teaches IB English A and World Literatures. He teaches students from nearly 100 different countries and has previously developed, on the college’s behalf, programs of youth service in Uganda in which selected students used to spend a year of experiential education. As well, he served as the advisor for the college’s projects in Africa during their lifetime. He has just finished his term as Dean of Students at the college.

In his own subject area of English A1, Geoffrey Tindyebwa is a principal moderator for the International Baccalaureate and has led IB English teacher training workshops on five continents. An educational author, he has co-adapted two English Language text books for secondary schools in East and Central Africa and published eight study guides on literary texts by famous writers like Shakespeare, Gogol and Ngugi wa Thiong’o.


About the Deputy Director, Jecton Were

Jecton Were teaches at Jumeira Baccalaureate School, Dubai. He has previously taught at the UWC Pearson College in Canada, Bishop Mackenzie International School in Malawi, the Aga Khan Academy in Mombasa and Makini School in Nairobi. Jecton is an IB examiner for the extended essay in visual arts.
